Guest guest
Siddarth, " So my question is: If my successor, by the grace of God, manages to realize Him then whose suffering does he end? His, mine or Mahesh's? " Wrong question. The right question is, " Who is it that gives a damn? " Your and Mahesh's suffering (i.e., those minds and bodies that suffer) no longer exist. The successor, you would think, at least eliminates his own suffering, but once eliminated, who was it that suffered? Once the realized person has detached himself or herself from the mind and the body, only the Atman or individual consciousness or Observing Self is left. Once the body dies, Atman is absorbed into Paramatman. This is not a denial of the doctrine of karma and reincarnation; you were simply connecting the minds and bodies of Mahesh, your current manifestation and that of the successor. Those minds and bodies do not exist, have never existed, have never been born. Though inquiry using the mind is necessary to get on the path, no amount of thinking will propel your spiritual progress. All you'll get is a headache! Meditate with an empty mind; if necessary, repeat, " I am not this mind; I am not this body. " Relax! All bliss comes with the awareness that you (your mind and your body) are no one. Making that awareness permanent is the tough part! Jai Ramakrishna!
