Guest guest
In Swami Yogeshanandaji's book " Six Lighted Windows " ( which is one of the best books i have read in ANY genre) if i remember correctly, there is an incident of how The Master requested half-boiled eggs while He was still clinging to life, very ill. But before He could have his desire, he passed on. The eggs were prepared and after His passing, it is related that Swami Vivekananda madly rushed into the kitchen and as if in a frenzy swallowed those two half-boiled eggs. This was an incident that for me quietly spoke about how the Master took over Swamiji for Himself, accomplishing through the Swami much that He Himself wanted done. I truly believe that Swamiji himself gave himself up to make way for the spirit of Sri Ramakrishna. When we read the Ramakrishna Phenomenon and the life of Swami Vivekananda before the Master's passing, we find that Swamiji really GREW so big and so mighty of intellect and heart only after the Master's passing on. Before he was extraordinary no doubt, but not the Swami Vivekananda we now worship him as so discussion about Ramakrishna Lokas and Vivekananda Lokas are in jest. We know that the Supreme is ONE. And yet,(for me ) it is Swamiji being so contemporary, still so at-home with our world and yet so above it that draws me to him. His feeling for others so writ large on his everyday acts. And after finishing reading Sarat Chandra Chakravorty's book again, on Swamiji one salient fact that draws me even further to him stands out. That is that he never claims to be a Bengali or an Indian. On the contrary he would pointedly tell SCC " You people in your country are responsible.... " " you Bengalis.... " never once (NOT ONCE!) claiming identity with any race or country. He does do so in other speeches, but in this book he does not. That too speaks volumes of his universality. Again The Master is too, but the evidence of it is less contemporary. When we speak of aliens we often do not wonder where beings such as Jesus, Buddha, SriRamakrishna come from. Where do they get their views that are so alien to this world and this world-view? Are they Aliens? pranaams to all
