Sri Ramakrishna’s saying: “Money enables a man to get

food and drink, build a house, worship the Deity,

serve devotees and holy men, and help the poor when he

happens to meet them. These are the good uses of

money. Money is not meant for luxuries or creature

comforts or buying a position in society.”

 

Tirumantirum (verse 2029):

Control Desires, and Attain Bliss

Countless the holes

In this body’s chamber dark

If with the countless holes (desire) I run,

Faulty will may lot be;

If you run not

With the countless holes of desires,

Countless indeed the bliss you attain.

 

Tirukural:

(124) More imposing than a mountain is the greatness

of a man who, steadfast in domestic life, has mastered

self-control.
