Guest guest
hi all, namaste. Swamiji speaks of India as a land of peace and harmony ie a kind of cultural entity which has carried on its tradition for centuries. I am interested to know the about the following in regard to this statement 1. What exactly is the idea of Swamiji about India as a nation ? {based on religion, ethnicity, culture, language ?} 2. If we are to draw geographical boundaries of India, which swamiji speaks of, what all regions will it cover ? {eg. Shrilanka, Nepal, Tibet, north-eastern states of India, Myanmar, Afghanistan, NW frontier of Pakistan etc. ?} 3. What exactly is the word used by swamiji in his Bengali literature to refer India ? {is it Bharat (eg. as in Prabuddha Bharata) or Hindustan (because of Sindhu river - word used by Mahatma Gandhi and others of his time) or both } What else words he uses to refer to India ? 4. Who is an Indian and what distinguishes him from rest of the humanity ? {ideals, special duties, way of thinking etc of an Indian as Swamiji visualises} Questions on these lines were asked to me and I would be very grateful if somebody can let me know the answer, or the references from complete works or any other book of the Order. Apart from these, a. In which period of Indian history did India shine as a abode for golden sparrow, as described by some popular descriptions and songs - Vedic Period, Gupta period, or any other recorded period ? b. In other words, which is the golden period of Indian History where all our glorious ideas of religion, administration, art, culture and others were implemented ? Namaste, Swamiji's 'Lectures From Colombo to Almora' are the best source for quotations on these questions. Ashoka's empire, and a couple of centuries before and after, perhaps would be considered as the golden period, for the 'nation' as a whole. Mahabharata certainly all the elements included in it, but not on the scale Ashoka' expansion. The Krita Yuga, the Vedic period, has set the standard by which to judge humanity's aspirations and progress. Regards, Sunder
