Guest guest
The following came from Vikas Akalwadi. We had to edit the posting to just one 'story' as otherwise the message became too long. ==============taken from Vikas Akalwadi's posting==== Reminiscences of Holy Mother Swami Nityasvarupananda It was on December 23, 1916, that Swami Mahadevananda and I went to Holy Mother's house at Bagbhazar. At once we went to the Ganges, had our bath, returned to the Holy Mother's house, and were waiting to bow to Her. At that time the Holy Mother was worshiping Sri Ramakrishna in the shrine on the first floor. We were waiting on the ground floor. Swami Mahadevananda, who was quite at home there, went upstairs to see what the Holy Mother was doing. By then the Holy Mother had finished Her worship, but was still seated in the shrine where She was worshiping Sri Ramakrishna. Swami Mahadevananda made his obeisance to Her and then came back downstairs and told me that the Holy Mother was still seated in the shrine after Her worship. He asked me to go upstairs and make my obeisance to Her. I went upstairs and entered the shrine and made my obeisance to Her. The moment I bowed to Her, She looked at me and said, " Well, will you have initiation? " I was overwhelmed. She immediately said to me, " Take your seat. Perform achamana. " Then She said, " Which God or Goddess do you love the most? " I immediately told the Holy Mother the name of my only God. She then gave me initiation. I had not taken any gift with me to offer at Her feet, as is the custom at the time of initiation, for I did not know that my initiation would take place in this manner. The Holy Mother asked me to bring some fruits from those under Her bed in the shrine room. Accordingly, I brought some and She asked me to offer them at Her feet, which I did. Then I bowed to Her, left the room, went downstairs, and told Swami Mahadevananda all that had happened. After my initiation, a friend of mine and I went out and bought a piece of cloth with a very narrow red border, the kind of cloth the Holy Mother used to wear. We also purchased some grapes. They were then offered to the Holy Mother. At noontime I had prasad at the Holy Mother's house. Swami Mahadevananda told me that after I had had my initiation, the Holy Mother said to him, " This boy will make his mother and brothers weep, " indicating thereby that I was meant for the life of renunciation.
