Guest guest
Dear Jay, I am a silent reader of mails in this great group. I read the articles of Malhotra at Sulekha and I agree with your point of view that Hindus should first understand their religion rather than trying to put the blame on others. For most of the hindus in India and abroad, religion has become like a military drill. Once or twice a week go to a temple, bow half a dozen times to half a dozen murtis and circle a few and lo! you're religious. Nobody is thinking the reason behind their actions. Recently, I went with couple of other Hindus and one chinese manager for lunch at an Indian restaurant. The Chinese manager saw a lotus flower put in a tray filled with water. He questioned the significance of using Lotus in our religion. None of my Hindu friends were ready to answer that question. Instead of finding faults with other religions and claiming that hindus are putting themselves lower by unifying other religions, we should introspect and try to become a better Hindu by understanding more about our religion. Infact, accepting and harmonizing other religions was the greatness of Hinduism from the beginning. Pranams, Prasad
