Dear Selvaratnam,Thank you for your contributions. I went ahead and purchased a book on the sayings of Tirukural from the Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan. The book is just magnificient.Thank you,Jagannath.

Happy you found the Tirukkural by Tiruvalluvar. Here is a quote from Albert Schweitzer on the Tirukkural. The quote is in a 1969 copy of the Kural found during pilgrimage in Tamil Nadu. "With sure strokes the Kural draws the ideal of simple ethical humanity. On the most varied questions concerning the conduct of man to himself and to the world its utterances are characterised by nobility and good sense. There hardly exists in the literature of the world a collection of maxims in which we find so much lofty wisdom."

Quoted from "Indian Thought and its Development" by Albert Schweitzer, published by Adam & Charles Black, London (1951).
