Guest guest
Very interesting discussion going on and thought provoking also for the readers. I think when we ask why or how about such happenings, we should also carry broader vision of the situation. To see the situation as just as tsunami would be a narrow vision, but to see the whole timeline and geography of the area and changes that have been happening during the century would be perhaps a little broader and help us undertsand. The tsunami has actually reverberated across the whole earth and has effected its rotation itself. The worst effect has been felt in areas only that are closer to the epicentre as usual for any earthquake. But this is just the effect, the cause has been happening slowly through out the century. We never gauged during the whole century how the plates were disbalancing slowly through the period of time. If we had such information ahead of time we would have saved thousands of lives. This means mankind should have done proper karma for procuring such information. Our own indolence in this matter kept us in ignorance, thereby has been the cause of loss of life. Everyone would agree that if every single life was evacuated well before, then probably there would not have been such a noise about tsunami except about a wonderful wall of water coming from ocean. If I ignore any part of my house eventually that will collapse and I would have to suffer the loss. The mother earth is our own house. When we have advanced so much we shouldn't never ignore ocean beds and fault lines as we have been doing. If we do not have the capability we should try to discover such capability to measure and be able to predict the earthquake. Karma theory not just applies to the results but more to 'doing right action' because if that is taken care of the result would be taken care of also. Changes like tsunami have been happening all centuries and it is the nature of planet earth- we all know that! Having know the nature we should have done something abt it. If I know my mother is angry at times, I would rather be cautious in what I do to prevent any disaster falling on father! Also in a family we see that an action done by one member causes eventually sometimes for another's suffering. This whole humanity is a big family and more connected in this age of globalisation. The more give and take between the humans in other parts of world happens the stronger this interconnection in global family members grows. Thus one member's karma effects another member in another part of world in a more visible manner now a days and would be even more visible in future generations. The karma done by a subject does not only effect the subject, but also the object of karma -the rest of world. And now that the object i.e the external world has been effected, it would change. This change would inturn effect the subject again, the subject being contained in this world. Such is the dynamics of this world. There is also collective karma - when one group of individuals each adding his personal karma vector with the others to generate a massive current of karma which results a change in the external world. For example creating and exploding a nuclear bomb. But the effects of such go far in the timeline. I may be able to through a stone afar, beyond my vison, but after that my sight cannot percieve the effects of my karma. If the karma theory is well understood along with science and technology and is applied in the practical fields probably it would benefit the whole humanity and might save us from future disasters. God has given us all capability to remove our miseries, for we are all the same divine sparks, if only we discover our infinite capability and use it. Jai SriRamakrishna, Sriram.
