Guest guest
Hi, Good Morning,Hope doing good. Your question is a real valid one which is specific to how the population is increasing when there is reincarnation of the soul into new bodies. According to vedas, scripts the soul is reincarnated not only from one body to another, but also from one form to another, which means that the soul which is born not only as human being also changes into other form. Also gradually u can see that some animals/birds/other living organisum are getting distinct or exhausted. The souls of these are transformed into another form,i.e human being/other forms. So there is a change in equilibrium in terms of different souls getting into another form.that cause the increase of population in one form & decrease in another. Hope this is clear with the reincarnation of the soul from one form to another & not limited only from one body to another. Thanks, Have a Nice Day.radh15 <radh15 wrote: My question is if the soul is reincarnated into new bodies in the cycle of life/death...then as the population of the world is increasing, where do the new souls come from to fill the new bodies?look forward to hearing the explanations.thanks.Sri Ramakrishnaya NamahVivekananda Centre Londonhttp://www.vivekananda.co.uk

Hindus believe in the theory of evolution -- we have evolved out of the animal kingdom. Our physical bodies have evolved from a single cell being to this very complex human form. The souls that occupy these bodies too are promoted from the animal kingdom, hence the increase of world population from a few million to a few billion is easy to explain as there is a huge number of souls waiting to occupy human bodies. There is a more technical question we can ask: Where do the souls who occupy the 'first single celled beings' come from? .... The multitude of increasing number of human souls can be accounted for by drawing on the animal, insect and plant kingdoms, but where do those souls that occupy the first single cells come from? : ) jay
Guest guest
Dear Radh n others, i do not know for certain but this is what i believe in- i agree with Vinod- the increase in human population might not be new souls, they cud all be the souls of animals, birds n insects.... just think of it- there are millions of bacteria! Also, i feel we r all born only for one reason- self realization! n we all r bound to succeed come what may.....there is no other way! n since only humans (though there may be exceptions) r entitled to self-realization, there r more humans with the passage of time.... in that sense, the increase in human population is wonderful....for there is greater probablity of greater number reaching Godhead! May Thakur, Mother n Swamiji quicken our progress! love, Shyam.
Guest guest
Maybe from the animals or the beings from other lokas. I'm convinced that many house pets are in training for human birth. Buddhism recognizes 6 types of transmigration, human birth being just one type. The Hindu scriptures talk a lot about the devas who through great virture take birth in the higher realms of pleasure- yet they are so intoxicated by these pleasures they don't practice and when their karma wears out they must once again take a human birth. Also, liberation is only possible in the human birth, so even the devas of envious of this opportunity. Of course none of this is relevant to sadhana. Why not " Be here now " and use your precious human birth for maximum opportunity instead of idle speculation? Guest guest
Reincarnation, evolution, parallel universes, karma, destiny... all are theories that we can find on the way of the " theory of everything " . And none of the theories are perfect enough for an inquisitive mind. All theories start with certain assumptions and end in a conclusion which can sitill be questioned further. Either we can reconcile and stop at one point where we reach the chicken and egg situation or we can proceed still further to the question in vedas " What is It that by knowing which Everything is known " . Guest guest
Why, we can always fall back upon Sri Ramakrishna for the explanation of 'souls of the first single cells' ! The sun and its reflection in various vessels !! Given one sun, the Oversoul, we could have any number of reflections - 'souls of the first single cells'. No wonder, therefore, that Vedanta considers creation to be infinite. Ishwara alone knows how many 'souls of the first single astral-cells' are being produced in the other spheres of existence. After all, the physical (Time-Space-Causality) plane of existence is only one portion of the Cosmic Being, says Bhagavan in the Gita. I think, the trans-human plane of existence will be far more interesting.......the plane which, according to Swami Brahmananda, begins only after Nirvikalpa Samadhi ! Guest guest
well, is the population of the earth increasing? or is the population of people increasing? i have heard some theorize on this being first human birth for many, and they talk about coming back as something other than human, so guessing if you can come back as a cow, if you are a good cow you can come back as a human. according to that human. friends have jokingly and not so jokingly commented on the animal like personalities and behaviours of so many. cheers. david Ramakrishna , " sc var " <scvar@h...> wrote: > > Reincarnation, evolution, parallel universes, karma, destiny... all are > theories that we can find on the way of the " theory of everything " .
