Guest guest Posted March 5, 2005 Report Share Posted March 5, 2005 dear friends during his geeta krishna says that the soul neither is affected by fire or wind , water nor any shastras. then tell me how is it that soul is affected by karmas. if touching fire is a karma then burning its result only affects the body. saints say that sadness andpain only affects the body not the soul . then how can bodily actions affect the soul? please answer me sajith.... The essential self can neither be burnt nor is it influenced by your karma it is just the witness to everything. [in my previous mail i've said thakurs explanation for why these(duality) happenings] you can consider this(atma) as just a pure mirror which just reflects(again saakshi ie.,witness)body and minds duality(joys and sorrows)being not mixed in them. this is because, atamas pure(correct) state is SAT CHIT ANANDA [truth, knowledge (here english lacks correct meaningful word for chit which i am telling as knowledge)and bliss]PRAGHNANA GHANA prghna means concious knowledge power and ghana means not changeable.[atma not changed(experiencing) in all 4 states of conciousness{jagrat,swapna, sushupti and turia) ....still many names(modes) in trying to describe IT. here any one can also think, i(some body) haven't done any thing bad even once in my (their) life, how come i (they) am (are) getting this duality(joy and sorrow) in this life? for that the reason is past vasana( means last incarnations) wishes are taking its actions. one should note that, for these actions to take place,.... there one has to (must) get a correct chance {they should get a proper time} based on the karmas they have made in their past incarnations, some times now itself to experience those related actions!!! plz note, according to vedanta, all these are applicable for souls stay in only HUMAN BODY, note that soul takes animal body just to fulfill(finish totally or partly some times) its past karmas (actions precisely means unexperienced wishes made when in human body).
