Mahasamadhi of Srimat Swami Purushottamanandaji Maharaj

We are very sorry to inform you about the Mahasamadhi of Srimat Swami

Purushottamanandaji Maharaj at 6:18 a.m. on Friday, 25th Feb 2005, in

Bangalore. Swamiji was admitted to the Narayana Hrudayalaya from the

16th of February and was diagnosed with multiple blocks in the coronary

arteries (triple vessel disease). He underwent an angioplasty on 19th of

February 2005. In spite of this procedure he had a silent massive heart

attack during the early hours of the 25th of February.

His mortal remains were placed at the Vidyarthi Mandiram inside the

premises of the Basavanagudi Math for devotees to have a last darshan.

Thousands of devotees and well-wishers came to pay their last respects

to Swamiji. His mortal remains were then carried in a procession to the

burning ghat in the nearby Chamarajapet area, with a large number of

devotees joining in the last journey. The mortal remains of Swamiji were

consigned to flames and the ashes were immersed in the Cauvery on the

26th morning at Srirangapatna and also into the holy Ganges at Varanasi.

 

As a mark of our respect to Swamiji, the thirteenth day of his passing

away will be observed on March 9th, 2005 at the Ashrama in Belgaum with

Special Puja, Homa and Bhajans.

We have also planned a public function in Belgaum in memory of Revered

Swamiji on March 27th, 2005 with a special Puja and Bhajans and

addresses by senior Swamijis of the Ramakrishna Order.

You and your family members are most welcome to participate in these

events.
