Guest guest
Dear List On Easter Monday we were asked to make a three hour presentation of Hinduism to about 100 Christian Ministers attending a seminar organised by South East Institute for Theological Education at King's School, next door to Canterbury Cathedral. The seminar produced very positive feedback even though we were severe and uncompromising on issues like proselytising. The presentation took the form of removing serious misconceptions that often parade as Hinduism. Issues like viewing Hinduism as polytheist or as a religion promoting the Hereditary Caste system. We were actually cheered when we explained how we fought and won our arguments with an examining body! We told the delegates that Hinduism has a serious role to play in tackling the two serious challenges faced by all world religions. i.e. How can many world religions (some with exclusivist claims) co-exist peacefully with dignity and without compromise? Secondly and more importantly: How can world religions respond to the challenge of 'materialism parading as secularism'? The material we presented was received very enthusiastically. A large number of delegates came to us at the end of the seminar and shook our hands warmly; this was a clear sign that the seminar had touched many hearts. May there be many more such encounters. jay Vivekananda Centre London

Regards Vijay Krishnan Dear Vijay The presentation (quite long) consisted of 2 sessions of one and a half hours each. All material was extempore so have nothing to suggest. The good thing is that about 100 Christian ministers have taken the message to heart. We Hindus are slowly breaking through and gaining attention. jay
