Guest guest
India News] Ahmedabad,A Gujarat government-owned building in which Swami Vivekananda stayed in 1892 was Tuesday handed over to the Ramakrisha Mission.Chief Minister Narendra Modi gave the keys to the bungalow and its documents to Ramakrishna Mission deputy chief Swami Atmasthanand at a ceremony in Vadodara, 110 km from here, an official statement said. The "Dilaram Bungalow" will be converted into the mission's service centre, the fourth in Gujarat. The state government was acting on a long-standing request of the mission. Paying tribute to Vivekananda, Modi said "108 years before the US came under the 9/11 attacks, Swami Vivekananda had warned the world against the philosophy of violence and advocated the Hindu philosophy of welfare for all".Vivekananda's address at the World Religions' Congress in Chicago Oct 11, 1893 is seen as one of the Western world's first introductions to Hinduism. Before the historic US visit, Vivekananda, the best-known disciple of Ramakrishna Paramhansa, travelled across India and stayed in Vadodara for a while."The world would have been different if the US had heeded Swami Vivekananda's message," said Modi, who was last month denied a visa to the US over his controversial role in the 2002 communal violence in the state.FROM: http://www.keralanext.com/news/indexread.asp?id=184303
