Guest guest
Namaste Lorraine, RE: Shankara and Advaita Vedanta Vivekananda- " You must not believe that Shankara was the inventor of the Advaita system. It existed before Shankara was born, he was one of its last representatives. So with the Vishtadvaita system it had existed ages before Ramanuja appeared. " FROM: http://www.ramakrishnavivekananda.info/vivekananda/volume_3/lectures_from_colomb\ o_to_almora/the_vedanta.htm Vivekananda- " Shankara says that Advaita-Vedanta is the crowning glory of the Vedas, but the lower Vedas are also necessary, because they teach work and worship, and through these many come to the Lord. Others may come without any help but Advaita. Work and worship lead to the same results as Advaita. Guest guest
Revered Lorraine, Please read Jnana Yoga by Swami Vivekananda. That contains the gist of Non-Dualism. Bhagavan Shankra Himelf when assked said "If I was to tell you in half a verse here it isBrahman alone is Real, the World is Unreal and the Individual Soul and Brahman are one and the same." Swami Turiyanandaji Maharaj ( A close and direct disciple of Holy Master ) said "Brahman is True and the Universe is True" The above statements are both saying the same thing because they both say the True nature of Everything is Brahman. Noothing comes across so beautifully as Swami Vivekananda Who said "He who knows the real, knows in Maya reality but he who kknows not the real, sees in Maya, illusion and tekse it to be reality" If one reads Jnana Yoga of Swami Vivekananda all the doubts will be cleared Respectfully,Suresh Sri Ramakrishnaya Namah net.com> wrote: Dear List Can you give a short response to Lorraine on the topic of Advaita and Shankara?
