Guest guest
Dear Kathy, It is wonderful to have you back again. Please do start contributing as you used to earlier. Sri Chaitanya Deva was a multifaceted personality. His bhakti is usually highlighted but he was also a karma yogin and an accomplished jnani. For those interested I would recommend the Chaityanya Charitamtrita by Sri Krishnadas Kaviraja, Iskcon has brought out an affordable english translation. Advaita Ashram has also a wonderful book on him. Ones spiritual quest is not complete until you read Sri Chaitanya. I am very fortunate to have visited the places associated with him in Puri. Every time I peek into the room where he stayed a thrill runs through my body. Though it is expressly prohibited I had once sneaked into that room. It is said that the sankirtan of the Mahamantra can be heard if one sits there and listens attentively. It is not to be tried though or the peaceful vaishnavs will break all the bones of your body for that transgression. I escaped due to a very kind caretaker who, by the mercy of Thakur, took pity on me. The samadhi of Haridas and also Siddha Bakul are wonderful places to sit and meditate. Haridas samadhi has now been taken over by Iskcon. After washing the body of Haridas in the ocean at Puri, Sri Chaitanya declared that the Bay of Bengal had become the holiest of all waters. A withered out tree of 500 years associated with Haridas at Siddha Bakul takes your breath away. Love & Regards, Jagannath. !
