Ant: Advaitic postion on the stem cell research

Sir,

If abortion can be acceptable to the modern world,

where a properly formed foetus is forced to end its

life then what is wrong with stem celled research may

I ask?

Abortion does not help anybody except perhaps the

mother who does not want her life style to change but

stem cell research will help the countless millions

suffering from all kinds of diseases from which there

seems to be no respite at the moment.

Besides the stem cells are just that'stem cells'

meaning cells from which an embryo may arise but not

yet arisen.Using these cells for research can hardly

be called killing as according to our scriptures the

soul does not enter the cells at this stage.
