Guest guest
Namaste Naveen Mohan, Q. " what is the difference (if any) between self realization and salvation??? " Comment: Salvation = Moksha Self-realization = Vijnana Sri Ramakrishna said: " What is vijnana? You must know God in a special way. One person has heard of milk, another has seen it, and yet another has drunk it. He who has only heard of milk is an ajnani (a man of ignorance), he who has seen it is a jnani (a man of spiritual knowledge), and he who has drunk it has attained vijnana. That is to say, he has known God in a special way. When one sees the Lord and talks to Him as a near and dear one, it is vijnana. " On Moksha: Sri Thakurji said: " You attain discrimination only when non-worldliness comes to the mind. When you have attained discrimination, you begin to think of the essence. Then the mind has the desire to stroll under the Kalpataru (wish fulfilling tree) of Kali. When you go under this tree, when you are near the Lord, you effortlessly gather all the four fruits. You are only to pick them up the four fruits of dharma (righteousness), artha (wealth), kama (desires) and moksha (liberation). On attaining Him, whatever a householder needs dharma, artha or kama he gets if he so desires. " Q. " can a man (soul) attain salvation and still remain in the same physical body??? " Comment: I believe that one may obtain the four fruits of Dharma and still remain in the body. Q. " is not the desire for salvation a height of selfishness??? " Comment: I believe that God instilled this desire for Moksha in each and every one of us. The Master said: " The Divine Mother wants to continue playing with Her created beings. In a game of hide-and-seek the running about soon stops if in the beginning all the players touch the 'granny'. If all touch her, than how can the game go on? That displeases Her. Her pleasure is in continuing the game. " Sri Ramakrishna also said: " All will surely realize God. All will be liberated. It may be that some get their meal in the morning, some at noon, and some in the evening, but none will go without food. All, without any exception, will certainly know the real Self. " " Before God realization one cannot suddenly give up karma. How long has one to perform sandhya and such other holy acts? So long as at God's name tears don't flow and hair don't stand on their ends. If tears fill the eyes even once on uttering `Om Rama,' but once know it for certain that your karmas are over - you will not have to perform sandhya and such other rituals any more. The point is that without salvation one is in ignorance and under the illusions of egoism. In that condition, can one truly help one's fellows? It is only when we are free ourselves that we can help others, or even come to truly see the nature of the difficulties they face. *peace*
