Guest guest
Yesterday morning I was in Norwich giving a talk to the teachers in training at the University of East Anglia. Ironically the topic of my talk in the morning session was Religious Pluralism and how it holds the key of resolving the issue of strife in the name of religion. Hindu teachings are vital and should be promoted more vigorously in the education system. We are now doing a series of talks on Hinduism at some of the Teacher Training colleges. These talks are recieved with tremendous interest and enthusiasm. Every would-be-teacher who is exposed to these Hindu presentations goes away filled with enthusiasm. He is given the confidence and suitable resource material to teach Hinduism to the hundreds and thousands of students he will intereact with in his career. We have said this in the past and we say this again: Hinduism is going to be the most popular religion studied in English schools within five years. It will generate tremendous enthusiasm and promote greater community cohesion, as it offers the prescription as to how many world religions can co-exist without threatening or without feeling threatened
Guest guest
Namaste Jay, You are fulfilling the wishes of Swamiji, who said: " Spirituality must conquer the West. Slowly they are finding out that what they want is spirituality to preserve them as nations. They are waiting for it, they are eager for it. Where is the supply to come from? Where are the men ready to go out to every country in the world with the messages of the great sages of India? Where are the men who are ready to sacrifice everything, so that this message shall reach every corner of the world? Such heroic spurs are wanted to help the spread of truth. Such heroic workers are wanted to go abroad and help to disseminate the great truths of the Vedanta. The world wants it; without it the world will be destroyed. The whole of the Western world is on a volcano which may burst tomorrow, go to pieces tomorrow. They have searched every corner of the world and have found no respite. They have drunk deep of the cup of pleasure and found it vanity. Now is the time to work so that India's spiritual ideas may penetrate deep into the West. Guest guest
PAIN HAS ITS USES In every man's life there come moments of weariness and struggle, when everything appears gloomy and hard. But know that no true character was ever formed without passing through these stages. So we must be bold and patient. This world is no lovely flower garden, as some foolish people regard it. It is full of thorns and we must be very, very careful as we walk in it . . . Misery and difficulties come at times to strengthen our character. They are like examinations. We must prepare and pass them. Know that they are very good for the formation of character. The more we meet with difficulties, the more we remember our Mother for protection . . .. He is true hero who can stand firmly on his own feet even when the whole world acts against him. That is the test of life. In order to mould a perfect character we need many things. We must go through both good and bad, happiness and misery, pleasure and pain. And when we can remain undisturbed both in happiness and misery, then we have reached perfection. We must live here boldly, have purity and strength of character, then face everything fearlessly, all difficulties and dangers. Whom to fear? We are the children of Divine Mother: our Mother is the Ruler of the Universe; the whole world belongs to us. Have that kind of life-giving faith. Let us fully depend on Her and say sincerely, " Let Thy will be done. " Swami Paramananda
