Guest guest
Dear Lokesh, Staying positive at all times is a tall order. However through self-control gradually you can train your mind to stay so. Human mind is the source of all actions/inactions etc. Texts from Vedanta or Gita tells us that without self-control there is no inner peace, and no happiness. While we are under the spell of Maya(Basana/Kalpana) and similar other traps within our mind, a equipoise state is difficult to find. Happiness is I suppose a gap between the end of one desire to the beginning of the next desire, a moment literally of desirelessness(or as Ma put it "Nirbasana" state if you like). One is happy if he is without debts and obligations. Then if he is in contact with his own self(Atmaram if you know what I mean). And who eats one scanty meal(Ekahari) at the end of the day. An average person comes to this world crying, then lives through life complaining and more often than not dies thoroughly disappointed! Life is restless(chitta is like a monkey going from one branch of a tree to another) because mind is so too. Mind goes through tranquility, restlessness and inertia( that is Swatta, Raja and tama). Mind is agitated always rising and falling. In its lower level it acts like an animal instinctively without control. So control your mind. Think spritually trying to free your soul from mind/body setiment, lift yourself up through self-talk silently. Control tend to create inhibition, and that often leads to exhibition - express it spiritually giving it to God! Control of mind has to be forcible, take the raging bull by the horns, then feed it with green grass, then when it gets calmer you can ride the bull. Turn your mind to Upanisad : Let us see what is good(Bhadra), let us hear what is good(Bhadra), Let us say what is good! You will always find some good in otherwise bad things in this world. Lastly you must know so that you are doing nothing on earth, it is He who is the doer. You are a tool/nimitta only. Give everything to God. You are a SAMRAT, so go and do your obligatory responsibilities with a positive frame of mind always, thinking and doing things for God and God only. See Him everywhere. Stay positive. Om tat sat. Hope this might help you Lokesh Ji. Asis Bagchi
