Dear Group,

 

I would like your thoughts on Spiritual Guru's. It is recommended that

one should have one to further one's knowledge and spiritual

realisation. But, with many fake Guru stories this has made me very

sceptical of seeking one, although I believe I would benefit from one.

And I'm sure for every negative story there are 100 positive ones which

get unreported.

 

I would like to hear from any of you who have gone down this path and

your experiences. On a casual note, I haven't seen a 'Top 100 Guru

list'! or how does a Guru get Vetted etc.

Anyone can find someone willing to

be their Guru, they are a dime a dozen.

 

 

There are many famous stories of

even bad Gurus leading to realization for a chela because of that Chela’s

faith. Baba Lokenath’s Guru,

although very sincere, was not realized and in fact returned after death and

became chela of his former student, now realized, and attained realization

himself. There are also many cases

of devotees following an unsound Guru and falling into great troubles as a

result, and many times you will find realized beings hated and vilified by

former chelas who have fallen.

 

How do you tell a real Guru? Sometimes realized beings act in ways

which seem totally contrary to what the classic expectation of such a one

should be, and sometimes the outwardly pious and perfect have hearts of stone

and worse. I can only tell you

from my own experience that if you are sincere and engage in spiritual practice,

as your longing increases and increases you will attract to yourself what you

need, whether you will embrace it or not is up to you, but it will come.
