Guest guest
Hello all, My name is José and I am an American currently living in Iceland. I am a Buddhist priest and yet have been long interested in the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna. I am taking a second MA degree in Psychology (my first was in Buddhist Studies) and upon graduation am planning on visiting the Ramakrishna Math and the Dakshineshwar Temple. Does anyone here know if it would be possible to stay at the Mission? If not, are there places someone might recommend? Also, I have read that theer are 5 photoes of Sri Ramakrishna in existence. I am familiar with the meditation pose (the " Shrine " photo), the samadhi photo (where He is being supported by his cousin), the Studio portrait and the Death photo (surrounded by the disciples. That´s four. Does anyone know what the other one is or if there are more, and if so where might I obtain a copy? I look forward to hearing from you and learning about this wonderful man. With palms pressed together, José

Guest guest
hello jose, Namaste. In Swami Chetananandaji's " Ramakrishna as we saw him " there is a very detailed/interesting appendix on " Photographs of Shri Ramakrishna " by Swami Vidyatmanandaji. Please go throgh it. As regards to number of photographs, there are 2 " Death " photographs, with slight modifications (some devotees have changed their position, especially Narendra, and if i am right, in one of them he is not wearing uttareeya. All the 5 pictures are given in the book. Keeping in view the sensitive nature, the mortal body is not shown in the book, and there is a mention that some earlier publications of the mission had the unedited pictures.) Guest guest
Dear Jose, You have missed the photo of Sri Ramakrishna standing absorbed in deep meditation, hands in spiritual mudra (pose), with Hriday supporting him from behind. The photograph also has other Brahmo devotees in it. For visit to Belur Math you should write to Swami Prameyanandaji at belurmath . Please just specify the period within which you would like to be accomodated. Write 2/3 months in advance and please do not insist on any particular dates. It would help if you can give the reference of any Swami of the Ramakrishna Math whom you know. Usually the months of April to September, and November are periods when it is easy to get accomodation at the Math. Regards, Jagannath. We are a few Vedanta friends here in Iceland and we sometimes have meetings for a discussion, an anniversary or a dinner. We have some interesting books on Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi and Vivekananda. We would really like to share your ideas. Can we tell you about our next meeting? All the best to you, Martial.
