Dear Sirs,

I’m working in my doctoral thesis (Universidade do Minho- Portugal).

During my studies I found similarity between some of our most important philosophers and the Hindu believes.

I’m convinced that Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and Berguson have copied Hindu ideas when they have affirmed the will of power, or the power impulse. I would like to know more about Itchasakti or Ichchhâsakti but I don’t know where to search. In my area there is no Hindu community. Can you help me ?!

Thank’s in advance.

Yes we can help

We will distribute your message on our list and we are sure to get some constructive replies.

We cannot say with certainty that some of the Westner philosophers you have mentioned have copied the ideas from the Hindus but we are quite aware that some of them were avid students of Hindu scriptures. Swami Vivekananda has commented on this issue in quite a few places.

We will get back to you shortly

Namaste,

These two sites may be helpful.

It has been said that Western Philosophy is comprised of

'foot-notes to Plato's'. It is also believed that Plato may have spent a

decade in exile in India after he was advised to escape to avoid the same

fate as Socrates!

Sunder

RE: Ideas of 'Will'

DEAR SUNDER,

I'VE CONTACTED SEVERAL MAILS IN YOUR CENTRE HOPPING THAT SOMEONE ANSWERS ME.

YOU HAVE HELPED ME A LOT. YOUR INFORMATION IS VERY PRECIOUS. AND I CAN TELL

YOU THAT THE LAST ADDRESS YOU GAVE ME IS VERY (VERY-VERY) INTERESTING.

MAY BE YOU DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU

THAT IN THE UNIVERSITY NO ONE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. NOW YOU KNOW

LOTS ABOUT MY COUNTRY..

MEANWHILE I CAN'T GO TROUGH (OPEN) THE FIRST ADDRESS BECAUSE IT IS A SITE

BY SIGNATURE. CAN YOU GET IT TO ME? IF YOU CAN'T DO IT THERE IS NO TROUBLE.

FOR ONE THING YOU MUST BE SURE. FROM NOW ON YOU HAVE ANOTHER FRIEND IN

PORTUGAL. IF YOU NEED ANY HELP OR SUPPORT YOU CAN COUNT ON ME.

BEST RGDS

PAULO VC

NOTE: SORRY BY MY ENGLISH, I'VE NEVER LEARN THIS LANGUAGE. I CAN UNDERSTAND

IT VERY WELL. ALSO SPEAKING BUT I HAVE SOME DIFFICULTIES IN WRITING.
