Guest guest
Dear List members We received the message copied at the bottom of this message .. The topic is interesting. Please give it your full attention and share your thoughts with us..........regards jay Dear Sirs, I’m working in my doctoral thesis (Universidade do Minho- Portugal). During my studies I found similarity between some of our most important philosophers and the Hindu believes. I’m convinced that Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and Berguson have copied Hindu ideas when they have affirmed the will of power, or the power impulse. I would like to know more about Itchasakti or Ichchhâsakti but I don’t know where to search. In my area there is no Hindu community. Can you help me ?! Thank’s in advance. Bst Rgds Paulo Vieira de Castro paulovieiradecastro ==========response sent to Paulo========= Yes we can help We will distribute your message on our list and we are sure to get some constructive replies. We cannot say with certainty that some of the Westner philosophers you have mentioned have copied the ideas from the Hindus but we are quite aware that some of them were avid students of Hindu scriptures. Swami Vivekananda has commented on this issue in quite a few places. We will get back to you shortly regards jay Vivekananda Centre London
Guest guest
Namaste, These two sites may be helpful. It has been said that Western Philosophy is comprised of 'foot-notes to Plato's'. It is also believed that Plato may have spent a decade in exile in India after he was advised to escape to avoid the same fate as Socrates!
