Dear All,

There is an incident in swamiji's life. In the days of dire poverty after

passing away of his father one day after a daylong search for job he faints on

the roadside. There he says that he gets a wonderful vision and says that deep

mystary of the universe was revealed to him. He has told that truth was

revealed to him whether god exists and what is the cause of the evil in his

creation etc. were solved instantaniously.

Is there any discription of what he saw in complete works or any other book

published by the order?

Namaste,

Life of Swami Vivekananda, by his Eastern & Western Disciples,

Vol. 1, p. 126 (pp. 123-129), has an account of this incident as told

to Sw. Saradananda by Swamiji himself. Sw. S. probably did not

complete his biography of Sw. V., as he did that of Thakur. There must

be his notes, perhaps in Bengali, as yet unpublished or untranslated.

Regards,

Sunder

Dear Vinayaka,

The following paragraph is from the Chapter " Training of the

Disciple " in Swami Vivekananda's biography by Swami Nikhilanda:

" He had been out since morning in a soaking rain in search of

employment, having had neither food nor rest for the whole day. That

evening he sat down on the porch of a house by the roadside,

exhausted. He was in a daze. Thoughts began to flit before his mind,

which he could not control. Suddenly he had a strange vision, which

lasted almost the whole night. He felt that veil after veil was

removed from before his soul, and he understood the reconciliation

of God's justice with His mercy. He came to know — but he never told

how — that misery could exist in the creation of a compassionate God

without impairing His sovereign power or touching man's real self.

He understood the meaning of it all and was at peace. Just before

daybreak, refreshed both in body and in mind, he returned home. "
