Guest guest
namaste, Shikhandi of Mahabharata was a female in previous birth (Ambe). According to a scholar - He was a brave man, though dramas depict him as man with feminine qualities. Bhagavad geeta says - Shikhandi was a maharathi, a great warrior. Since people knew that he had been a female in previous birth, they might have named him as shikhandi (a peacock, also a name of Vishnu), and depicted as feminine. At least in a jain story that we had in our lessons at primary school (kannada text book - Dharmabuddi-paapabuddhi was the name of the lesson from a jain puran), there was a mention of a man being re-born as female, and then a female dog also. For those who can read kannada/marathi i highly recommend noted novelist Shri S. L. Bhairappa's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhairappa) novel " naayi-neralu " (Dog- shadow, symbolising 'karma' and their nature of following us continously), story revolving around rebirth. I know that prestigious medical institute NIMHANS, Bangalore has recorded several cases of people claiming having reborn being admitted to hospital. The village people think that it is madness or devil spirits affecting their kids and bring them to hospital. I found the following link on google search for " nimhans rebirth " http://www.telegraphindia.com/1050410/asp/look/story_4592540.asp http://www.iisc.ernet.in/prasthu/abs/abs2003.html regards, vikas Attachment: vcard [not shown]
