Guest guest
The stamp Issue The Royal Mail introduced a 68 pence Christmas stamp which was viewed by some Hindu groups as controversial. Initially one of this groups said that the stamp showed a Hindu couple worshipping Jesus hence it was an attempt to 'convert Hindus'. When one looks at the stamp it clearly shows Madonna and Jesus in an Indian setting. The image shows a majestic woman in Indian clothes with a bindi and a young baby in the front. It is nothing like a Hindu couple worshipping Jesus. Today one of the BBC radio programmes interviewed me on this issue. I said if one sees this image as that of Madonna and Jesus and sees Madonna looking like a Hindu woman, it does not demean Hindus, to the contrary it would make a Hindu smile as the image would suggest that Christ's mother was a Hindu : ) jay

Guest guest
Chicago Monday 11/14/2005 Jay, Your explanation is good. I have other view: When child Jesus is put in the lap of a Hindu mother, He will be naturally raised as a Hindu by the Hindu couple. And Christinaity will be revolutionized and will beome inclusive instead of exclusive! --Girish of SRKP & WHSW)
