Guest guest
This is an excerpt from the book " Ramakrishna And the Vitality of Hinduism " by Solange Lemaitre published by (1984) Overlook Press, New York. (page 83) *************************************************************** Recognizing his (Ramakrishna's) remarkable power of transmitting his own spiritual vigour to others, she arrived at the conclusion that such results could be obtained only by a highly developed soul. Only a Divine Incarnation was capable of such manifestations. .... And she openly proclaimed that Ramakrishna, like Sri Chaitanya, was an Incarnation of God. ....Nevertheless he (Mathur Babu) bowed to the Brahmin's request and organized a meeting of theologians for the purpose of discussing the case of Ramakrishna. This conference was held in the nat-mandir (music auditorium) opposite the temple of Kali. The two most famous pundits of the time were invited: Vaishnavcharan and Gauri, both escorted by professors and adepts. While the Brahmin nun put forward her observations with emphasis on certain especially important points of theology and with such knowledge of the Scriptures and such competence that she was able to answer all the pundits' questions. Ramakrishna, seated like a child in the center of their circle and indifferent to what was going on around him, was wholly lost in his own thoughts. ... At the end of the meeting ,Vaishnavcharan proclaimed his full agreement with the Brahmin nun, acknowledging that Ramakrishna had attained to mahabhava, the sure indication of the extremely rare manifestation of the Divine in a man. When the other persons in attendance, particularly those attached to the service of the garden temple, heard this announcement they were struck dumb. In fact when Ramakrishna repeated to him what Vaishnavcharan had said, Gauri replied: " Is that really all that he said about you? It is not very much, at bottom. I am fully convinced that you are part of that source of spirituality of which a small part descends to earth from time to time in the form of an Incarnation. " . ********************************************************************** ************ Om sthapakaya ca dharmasya sarva dharma swarupine Avatara varisthaya Ramakrishnaaya Te namah!
