Guest guest
hi all, namaste. Please have a look at following mail. If any details are available, pls let me know (vikas). regards, vikas ==================== Hi all, Namaste. Ramakrishna Math, Bangalore, as part of centenary celebrations of its founding, is planning to bring out a book "HISTORY OF RAMAKRISHNA MATH, BANGALORE". Swami Siddheswarananda (1897-1957) was one of the past Presidents of Ramakrishna Math (formerly Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama), Bangalore. He was also one of the past Presidents of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysore and later Minister-in-charge of Vedanta Centre of Ramakrishna, Gretz, France. If anyone has or can throw light on the available source of the biographical details/reminiscences of Swami Siddheswarananda and his photographs, it will be very helpful for the above mentioned publication. Swami Siddheswaranandaji, in his premonastic life was a prince of Cochin state. Available details, if any on the Swami's pre-monastic life in Kerala are also heartily welcome. ================== Attachment: vcard [not shown]
Guest guest
Hello, Pranams. Srimat Swami Siddheswaranandaji Maharaj used to visit Sri Ramana Maharashi. Revered Maharaj has also taken H.H.Swami Ranganthanandaji Maharaj (during his early monastic life) to Sri Ramana and they have had his darshan. I am sure Mr.Sundher and other respected members will be able to provide more information on the pre-monastic life (and other details) of Swami Siddheswaranandaji Maharaj. Regards, Uday. S.'s book 'Meditation according to Yoga-vedanta' (4th ed.1976, orig. French, transl. by Prof.V.A.Tyagarajan; publ. Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Trichur, Kerala), has some references. The late S. Radhakrishnan mentions in his Foreword that he knew him as a student in the Madras Presidency College in the second decade of 20th century, and kept in touch with till his last day. The back cover of the book gives some more information (as well as his picture). He was initiated by Sw. Brahmananda in 1917, joined the Order in 1920, and given sannyasa by Sw. Shivananda in 1924. He was in France from 1937 to 1957. His parents were disciples of Sw. Shivananda. Regards, Sunde
