OR To Bless some select personnel destined to make progress in their spiritual journey? Or Shri ramakrishna simply Dragged him there? OR Did he have a detailed plan of activity beforehand or it was a decision at the spur of moment? Can it be understood by ordinary men? ORDid he have a detailed plan of activity beforehand or it was a decision at the spur of moment?Can it be understood by ordinary men? vivekananda him self never knew what his main objective of his life, it was thakur always used to refer him as dharma sampsthapaka...nara maharshi from saptharshi mandala... just imagine how many very brilliant scientists are interested for vedanta today, it is all because vivekananda for the first time in the history of india went out of india to spread vedanta. when vivekananda was in deep meditation for 3 days on kanyakumari sripada shila, he saw thakur walking on the sea towards west...at that instant he didnt know what was the message...later when he met a person in theosophical society of chennai , he told vivekananda about the world parliment of religions will going to held on 11 th september at chicago... later some more devotees requested him to go there and preach the essense of vedanta...at that instant vivekananda could able to understand why he saw thakur walking on sea towards west... with respect to raising of funds, he had very very hard time in usa till he spoke at world parliment of religions. even many devotees used to send him money from india raising funds, one of the very kind desciple who did this work was Ala singa perumal... later when swamiji became very famous, all rich americans are very impressed by swamijis intellect and his spirituality, even some more people in UK , they them selves donated him money.. please note SWAMIJIS INTENTION OF USA WAS NOT RAISING FUND TO ESTABLISH A MISSION HERE.IN INDIA. after that when he returned to india he didnt know what he should do with that money he got from the west as donation, he thought of building a mission in thakurs name, at that time one of his guru bhai opposed him for that work...later swamiji explained him the fate of fellow indians that he has experienced with when he was wondering as a parivrajaka...so all gurubhaies with the blessings of sharada ma decided to build a mission to serve the very purpose of swamijis motto that is ATMANO MOKSHARTHAM JAGAT HITAAYA CHA... till today imagine how many millions of people are spiritually benefitted? earlier vedanta was forcefully or some how managed by only certain people...but now every one can easily get bliss of vedanta... these are all gifts of swamiji...and yugavthar thakurji. more over swamiji never ruled the mission like a king as if he has built the mission, he left his physical body in the year 1902 just 3-4 years from the start of mission...this is because thakur always used to tell that swamiji will not live more than a second after he finishes his mission... jai thakur narendra sastry On 2/9/06, Shashi Bhushan Sadhu <sadhushashi wrote: FriendsThese are my doubtsShashi Bhushan Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The way you described the chronology is really very impressing. I was not aware of the fact that Swamiji in deep meditation on Kanyakumari rock had seen Thakur walking towards the west. It was a very certain fact that was missing from my knowledge and your highlighting this event just has completed the thread of my understanding about Swamiji's mission to the West. Thanks a lot!
