Dear Biswatosh,

The confusion you're having is very common, since

the path that Sri Ramakrishna and Vivekananda showed

does not guarantee miracles of health, wealth and

other wordly things, which have become very priced now

a days. But the path that they lived and showed us

gives us the most valuable of life, which is spiritual

bliss and Aananda, which cannot be described in wordly

sense. As Sri Sankara mentioned, the happiness that a

person gets on realizing the Atman or seeing God is

not even one tenth of happiness that a fully healthy

youth gets by enjoying wordly pleasures for 100 years.

Following Thakur and Swamiji will lead us to that

goal, in this life or the next. Why should we look

for small carrots when we're heading for a gold mine?

Even after so much of spiritual practice, Thakur

himself suffered from bodily disease. He never even

thought of using his spiritual powers or asking the

Divine mother to reduce his suffering. Only when his

disciples urged and pleaded him, he asked the Divine

mother to reduce his suffering only so that he can eat

food (here also, he didn't ask her to give him a very

strong body to live). Ofcoure the everyone in the

group knows the rest of the story.

The fact that so many people in Bangalore are

trying to learn Sudarshana kriya shows how desperate

man is for mental peace. It shows how blinded their

thoughts are that without a pure mind and devotion to

God, you can never have peace with just health and

wealth. It shows the growth and effects of

westernization and quick solutions provided by Eastern

gurus.

No wonder that in Mahabharata it is written that

with the sufferings that they undergo which are

created by their own actions, humans try to " buy "

religion.

In one of the groups that I follow, someone asked a

question that even Sri Ramakrishna and Sri Ramana

Maharshi had to suffer from ill-health before leaving

their mortal body. Then what will I get by following

spiritual path? The answer to that question was:

If you're travelling on an road full of pot holes in

a low-end car, you will surely feel the pain of the

pot holes. If you travel on the same road in a luxury

car, you will not feel that much pain, but will enjoy

the ride.

Following a spiritual path will make your mind like

a " luxury car " so that the problems in life (like the

pot holes) will be easy and smooth to travel.

Pranams,

Prasad
