Guest guest
Just to keep the list members posted on some of the recent activities of Vivekananda Centre London: School Assemblies We continue to be invited to conducted vast number of assemblies at schools. In the last two weeks we have carried out 7 assemblies. The themes can be anything from science and spirituality to celebrating Hindu festivals like Holi. We go to some inner city run down schools to some of the top schools in the country. Talks at colleges and universities We have done two sixth form seminars on Hinduism sometimes having to share the platform with other faith leaders. Debates sometimes take place - Hinduism comes out well by scoring points for all world religions. Next week we have one talk at Imperial planned by the Physics department at Imperial college on Quantum Mechanics and Hinduism. Next week we do a session on Hinduism for Post Graduate course on education for Lampater University. Work with the Department of Education Our agenda of tidying up the way Hinduism is presented in schools is gaining good support and is winning out. This is in stark contrast with the experience of Hindus in California. Interfaith work Though ideas of religious pluralism that we present sometimes generate sparks (specially from the Catholic lobby), our work continues and is generating warm support. Last week we conducted two talks one at St Ethelberga's in the City of London and another at St Mary's The Boltons in Kensington. Next week we have a meeting with Hampstead interfaith. Media We are planning to do some recording on Hinduism for Teacher TV channel next week. regards jay
