Guest guest
Respected List Members With the kind permission of Shri Jay Lakhani, I would like to share a booklet put together titled Mantra Yoga The Art and Science of Divine Vibrations . I might have been a little presumptious in presenting this to this group as i know that there are many scholars and revered Swamis of the Order who will read this . Forgive me for this. However, it is because i wish to learn just as much as i wish to share. The book is divided into 12 chapters and i have been requested to post less than 250 words per message by Jay. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MANTRA YOGA - IT LEADS TO ENLIGHTENMENT! The Little One, The Enlightened One I In search of the Enlightened One, trudged the Little One Of the Master, with a nimbus hallowed, golden The One, with only a staff and a pot to his name Yet with a wealth, far greater, than any can claim The Aim of this Book Mantras - those invocations, often in a language, quite alien. Mantras - often chanted in yoga classes or by monks, dancing on streets, clad in orange-saffron robes. The words tumble out, sounding like rattling marbles in a tin can. These invocations, though, even if they are harmless, seem to be with no rational basis to the uninitiated. For some, the intonations and inflections sound melodious, often drawing them closer. Most, however, dismiss them, out of hand. The aim of this book is to show that there is a rational basis for chanting mantras, based, at least partly, on scientific experiments conducted (discussed in Chapter Three) and that this yoga is a very real path toward attaining to one’s own higher state. The word ‘yoga’, as we know, means ‘union’ or ‘to yoke with’ and it refers to the union of our lower selves with our higher divine states, present in all of us. When we do a Namaste, joining our palms together and bowing down, we are, in effect, saying “Salutations to the divinity within you”. Yoga, whether it is Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga,(yoga through selfless service, i.e. service that aims to benefit humanity rather than just oneself) Bhakti Yoga (yoga through devotion and pure love) Raja Yoga (yoga through the mystic realm, such as meditation and concentration) or Jnana Yoga (yoga through the intellect) are all paths that unite our lower selves with our higher, divine states within.
