Guest guest
Bill: Welcome " home " ! My own " home coming " occurred about 10 years back, in the wilds of rural Nebraska. (My original spiritual epiphany occurred in early 90's, care of " Autobiography of a Yogi " - which also opened me to the teachings of Christ -- which for me is pure Vedanta.) For Christians, I don't know that the lack of interest/tolerance/accpetance of Vedanta is so much form (i.e., dhoti's, etc. - most Christians I know, know their Savior did not look, talk or dress like them), but substance ( i.e., reincarnation repudiates the saving grace of the Cross, etc.). It's also a much easier sell: Believe in Christ: go to Heaven -vs.- Struggle/surrender to overcome ego and desire: go to Heaven! I almost wish my mind wasn't so logical, so I may follow the former! I suppose our desire to see more " converts " to Vedanta is twofold: 1) To have more spiritual company (the only spiritual " milk " I get is through meditation, reading and this List), and 2) To see our respective national policies reflect our spiritual beliefs. That one is the big head-scratcher for us Americanos. The majority are church-going Christians -- but our national values are based on consumption and greed, with freedom and democracy thrown in so we can rationalize our foreign affairs -- in order to maximize our ability to consume ( e.g., oil, etc.). In any event, thank God for meditation, spiritual classics and this List! Jai Ramakrishna, Brad
