Guest guest
Dear Brad, It's the same everywhere, except for some nations where religion combined with politics has done more harm than good, just look at the Islamic nations. If true and sincere religious democracy is allowed within a political democracy that is the best we can ever hope to get. Politics views us as voters, and the economy views us as consumers. The concept of simple living and high thinking will destroy both, just as it will destroy the hold of maya on this world. Perhaps the only country I know of that tries to secure the happiness of its people is Bhutan, a Monarchy where the King is very popular and tries to measure the Country's progress in terms of GNH, Gross National Happiness. It is highly unlikely this will happen elsewhere. The people of Bhutan are Buddhists and take their religion seriously. There is just enough for everyone, the people are stoic and fit enough to tackle hardships, and they are satisfied with their lot, concentrating instead on gaining religious merit. That is the only way to be happy, I guess. Love & Regards, Jagannath.
