Guest guest
Hi Jay, TThis is really a pathetic truth about India which you have mentioned regarding Bollywood and I feel it most unfortunate that the leading dailies like "The Times of India" which used to be a true conveyer of the news of Indian struggles (Gandhiji posted many of his writings and was supported by the newspaper itself) now have reduced to be a provider of Bollywood gimmik and cheap talks. There is hardly any day that in the morning you would not see sleazy pictures of Bollywood actors and actresses and the newspaper reporters are so sincere that they do not miss to describle even how the actresses love their pets or how they are spending their vacations in the shores of Australia etc.! And this is the newspaper which had not posted a single article on "National Youth Day", the day on which Swami Vivekananda was born and on the same day they posted about Kareena Kapoor in a huge article that what she thinks about love and such high ideals !! I think these newspaper groups are now having only intention of amassing money even at the cost of nation's degradation. I hold such media campaigns as the root of all social maladies and condemn them all which fail to participate in building national self respect and character. Guest guest
Hi, I thought this was a good critic of Indian media. The main problem is excessive commercialisation and lack of quality control. It is the responsibility of media to create social awareness in people. It guess humans have a generally to enjoy cheap entertainment or gossip because that doesnot require any effort or brain teasing. It is so unfortunate to see that India is represented by the commercial Bollywood movies. Media and the people seems to have forgotten that Bollywood is not India. India is far beyong the gimmicks of Bollywood. There was a time period that National heroes like Swami Vivekananda, Gandhiji, and many others re-established the value system in Indian youth. Now the filmworld and media sets the values system. I wonder if this is because we lack a true national Hero, a good leadership. Thanks Monalisa

Guest guest
Namasthae, We all love Swami Vivekananda and so it is our duty to remember his words..."You are the creator of your own destiny." and adding to it " Dare to be different and dare to take a stand for what you know is right." We are the part of this society and we are ofcourse responsible for how it is. We should search for a Good magazine which is really concerned with the future of this world and our culture. I used to read a magazine called 'Vedanta' in my college library ( Sri Ramakrishna Engg. Col). I think this is a magazine from Sri Ramakrishna Mission ( I am not sure of its publishers). Why is the circulation of such books are less than the other rubbish books which are concerned on film stars bathrooms and bedrooms. It is only us who have encouraged these things and are still encouraging this. Have any one of us stopped buying those news papers? No...This is a terrible fact. Rather then blaming things why not we do some thing for it? It is our duty to encourage good articles. When we are able to go to hundreds of show rooms to get a Saree or a T-Shirt , why cant we go and search for a good book and encourage them by recomending those books to the people whom we know. "It is also our responsibility to teach the younger generation the value our culture. We have go in their way and tell them. If I am a youth I can share all the fine things that i saw in my culture to my friends. It is only me who can water my culture to keep it fresh always.", This is my view. Pardon me if I am wrong or if I am hurting anybody. Pranam, Divya. Guest guest
I don't think it has anything to do with not having any 'national heros'... i am sure there are many in India today, Kalam is a good example...But the problem, is that, without those kind of people realising or understanding how to manipulate the media and its industry you will not 'reach-out' anymore. The voices are there, they just are not effective in communicating it using modern means. E.g. Advertising, Media, Film, Magazine, Newspapers, Internet, Mobiles, television. These are todays and tomorrows 'channels' of communication... Right now, we have a very young India, who have unwittingly become gatekepers of these channels...Suresh
Guest guest
i have sent an e-mail to the Oberoi manager in Bangalore and requested her not to offer the TOI (Times of India) to their guests... i explained my reasons...bit by bit.. people need to (like Divya said) take a position to get people to change, because they don't understand. bit by bit...
