Guest guest
Greetings from Canada. I have a question for the group regarding the late incident on Mt Everest, wherein a climber was left to die on the side of the path by others who passed by. Apparently the dying man had not taken proper equipment for such great heights and was in serious trouble before he died. Others on the path knew of his plight but did nothing, saying that they needed their supplies for themselves alone, that they had just enough " to do " and no more to share with anyone. The question is: what is the moral obligation in this situation? The story reminds me vaguely of the story told by Jesus about the Good Samaritan, but there are huge differences. I know it is difficult to judge ahead of time what one might do in this kind of situation, so I will ask, " What ought we to do?
