Guest guest
Hello Everyone, recently in the United States, HIndu groups are still trying to change the curriculum on Hinduism in schools. In grade six books HInduism is depicted as a backward religion and this has offended many US HIndus who are trying to push for more knowledge on the Hindu religion. The Vivekananda Centre in the UK have done and are continuing to do a very good job about explaining HInduism in British Schools and making the wider public aware of the depth of the Hindu faith. I would be interested to know from US Hindus about how they are seen as HIndus and what steps HIndu orgainisations are taking to remvoe this bias towards HIndu religion In the US. A wider discussion is how the Hindu community worldwide can promote proper awareness of Hinduism and if education in schools is actually working to promote tolerance and awareness towards Hinduism. The aricle link is posted below. http://in.rediff.com/news/2006/mar/19edu.htm With prayers and good wishes, sincerely, Neil.
