If you would like a really like intelligent biography on Buddha then nothing is better than Karen Armstrong’s wonderful “Buddha.” She approaches Buddha’s life and teaching both from a spiritual and historical perspective. Most educational and enlightening.

 

For a detailed book on the life of the Buddha there is “The Life of the Buddha” by Edward J Thomas.
