respected all, the assumption that cancer might be caused by intensive spiritual life gives us a lot of food for thought. a prominent spiritual teacher(Petar Danov or Beinsa Duno,here in bulgaria)wrote that contradiction is the very reason for suffering a desease;for instance if one contracts an illness,especially cancer,it came to say that he is not in harmony,hasn't still found peace or solved his inner problems.exactly as the cancer cells were totaly apart from the rest of the system . the yoga path must lead to an ultimate state of harmony,so please explain. may God bless m i h a e l a

Disease is always the

effect of something. There are

generally two types of causes:

When we come into contact

with greater energy, then form manifests sooner in time than it would

ordinarily. It is more accurate to

say that the energy acts thru higher form and what would have been lower is

less. This is what causes the common experience of many on the spiritual path

of illness. This effect would have

happened anyway, it was just ‘sped up’ so to speak. The effect may be modified

in severity by the cause of our spirituality. It is like fasting. We experience the discomfort of

detoxification, but may have saved our body from worse later on. When we engage in spiritual practice,

come into contact with the great ones, etc., we experience the effect of formlessness,

greater shakti, energy, the effect of our karma gets ‘sped up’.

There is also the type of

illness where a spiritually advanced being takes our karma upon themselves and

what would have been “our” disease becomes “theirs”. This is done by empathy, out of compassion for our

suffering. If some pattern in the

mind has created this form of body cannot the universal awareness of mind be

any body? “They” become “us” and

then transfer the effect upon “their” body. The karma can then be worked off thru their great will and

knowledge and the grace which flows to them.
