Guest guest
Hi I have been attending Satsang for last 6 yrs, once a day daily & try & go in the evenings as well if time permits. Since last 9 months, I have been feeling very sleepy & heavy headed during satsang sessions (both morning & evening). I have constant thoughts going on- concentration to the vanis is low!! I have this problem even if I have had a good night sleep. I always have a good breakfast before I leave home & have a gap of 2 hrs between the time I wake up & Satsang I want to know is this a phase of gyan or I need to get medical assistance. Have any of you gone through this! Pls help Thanks
Guest guest
After reading your mail, as a doctor, I must emphasise that you should seek medical attention and investigate further before you come to any conclusions like gyan or what ever. There must be reason for your symptoms, Even if it is due to gyan, there is nothing one can do but if you neglect without medical investigation, you may be regretting later. Please go to your doctor if necessary a specialist and get fully investigated. Guest guest
Hi Trishna, I am afraid this may not be the phase of Gyan that you are mistaking it to be (or is it mentioned in a humorous sense..). Gyan or the State of Bodhi is of course the same calm posture both in physical and psychological perspective, but astonishingly it appears similar to the state of absolute inaction. Many people doze off during religious preachings, professor's lectures or some monotonous political speeches. This, most of the times happens due to the inability of the speaker who fails to attract attention to the listeners for variouis reasons. In case of Spriitual Gurus who deliver lectures, if the person himself has not conceived the ideas but has come to lecture others, then it becomes a punishment for the innocent audiences, but some of them being a little care free (or insensittive to the speaker..sic) they resort to sleeping. I myself remember feeling absolutely sleepy during my Home Tutor's class which used to be after returning from school, though I used to have a 8 hour sleep in the night, but surprisingly this same would vanish if the Teacher had to leave in between leaving me free to play or see Television or if he would never appear on that day at all. Where the heart is not set, for which you may not blame yourself, we certainly feel tired and our nerves wish to relax. So, it may not be a medical problem but a very practical experience that we all have. Satrajit Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less. Guest guest
I think maybe your salt intake is to blame. Check it. Or else you could have a cold problem, maybe without you realising it. Regards, Jagannath.

Guest guest
Namaste, There is a definite stage of meditation/awakening where you must pass consciously thru the state of sleep/dream. There are a myriad of causes of exhaustion; sleep disorders, diet, hormonal imbalances, etc. The rapid thought process always occurs in the transition to the stage in which the mind loses identification with the body, we are just usually unaware of it. Do you fall asleep at other times when inactive? If so you are sleep deprived and regardless of how many hours you sleep are not getting the depth of rest you need. If you are alert at all times except during sadhana, then it is probably just a stage of your practice. If it is a sleep disorder, or some physical problem, then you will have to go to a specialist to have it assessed and treated. Please let me know of your conclusions as I may be able to help further. Guest guest
There is no need to get so panicky on the issue. This is a normal problem while attending repetative tasks like meditation or japam. One tends to fall asleep. Because the feeling of a heavyness in the head was mentioned I concluded it could be due to taking more salt than necessary or due to a cold. If caused due to a salt intake the homeopathic remedy Natrum Mur would suit the bill. Otherwise Gelsemium would be the likely remedy. Jagannath.
