Guest guest
Dear Senthil, Krishna Kishore was a man who believed in religious disciplines. He wanted Sri Ramakrishna to be the same. To him chewing beetle leaf is against sainthood. Whereas, Sri Ramakrishna was the child of nature. He only believed in putting simple faith on God's feet and forget everything. Those who have attained absolute freedom and freedom from senses, their actions do not match to ours. As in Gita the Lord says, "The self realized yogi stays inactive amidst intense action and remains active amidst intense inaction". So, discipline is not for them who attained the highest bliss. Swami Vivekananda, once was asked in the West, while delivering a lecture on Hazrat Muhammad, that why the Prophet married more than one woman. Does not it put a blot on His character? The Swami readily replied "Who will understand their actions? You who live a life of Maya and not above simple weaknesses of human mind? We are not to judge them because their actions only they understand". The wife of Krishna Kishore was right for scolding her husband in this respect, because she understood that Sri Ramakrishna meant that He is free from earthly desires, so who can dictate His action except God? So, she scolded her husband for trying to dictate Him. Guest guest
hello sendhil i am not sure i understand myself - so perhaps we can rely on someone else in the group who has more knowledge to give an explanation. i am more similar to Kishore - and would be questioning " why do you chew betel-leaf???? " ! sriramakrishna's answer is difficult to grasp too... but i think it is interesting and look forward to any illumination from anyone in the group. all the best to you elly
