Question on Diksha

Namaste,

Diksha is not to

accept a Guru, it is to receive acceptance by a Guru, initiation. A real Guru is the most visible

presence of the living God and when they guarantee your liberation then you

will have it. They live so you

will experience what they have and when you really want it you will get it.

Love, Bob Rose

Hello Sujata, I have read this in a book by Swami Prabhavananda: "God's name is called the Mantra. As there are various names, there are various Mantras, depending on the particular aspect of God a devotee chooses to worship. The teacher gives the disciple the Mantra at the ceremony called Diksha, or initiation. The essence of the disciple's Chosen Ideal is concentrated in the Mantra, in the form of a sound symbol. These sound symbols express the deepest spiritual experiences of the sages and seers. To repeat the Mantra, meditating on its meanimg, implies that the aspirant must try to feel the presence of God within himself as he chants the name. During the ceremony of initiation, the teacher transmits spiritual power with the help of the Mantra. As the name is repeated, the spiritual power with which it is charged becomes evident to the disciple." Regards, Milena
