Guest guest
--\ ---- MASTER: " It is true that one or two can get rid of the 'I' through samadhi; but these cases are very rare. You may indulge in thousands of reasonings, but still the 'I' comes back. You may cut the peepal-tree to the very root today, but you will notice a sprout springing up tomorrow. Therefore if the 'I' must remain, let the rascal remain as the 'servant I'. As long as you live, you should say, 'O God, Thou art the Master and I am Thy servant.' The 'I' that feels, 'I am the servant of God, I am His devotee' does not injure one. Sweet things cause acidity of the stomach, no doubt, but sugar candy is an exception. --\ ---- Excerpt from The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna (Swami Nikhilananda Pub 1944) Vol 1: The Master and Vijay Goswami: Thursday, December 14, 1882
Guest guest
Dear Bhaskar, You should be able to purchase the Complete Works from Vedanta Soceity at London. The whole thing is in 9 volumes. Keep in mind that the Complete Works includes all of Swamiji's works written in English by him and somewhat edited versions of his works in Bengali translated to English. If you can read Bengali, I will strongly encourage you to read the original Bengali which you can buy from Kolkata. All of the 9 volumes of the Complete Works are available at www.ramakrishnavivekananda.info with most of the Bengali works linked from their English translation. The only difference between your link 1 and 2 is that link 1 provided the version printed on Govt. of India provided subsidized paper and probably does not include volume 9 which was published in 1999. Link 2 is printed on better quality paper and is hardcover.
