A far as I know they have no special separate prayers of their own for any of our rituals. For ceremonies and ritualistic purposes they tell us to follow the normal prayers that are written in our scriptures.

Guest guest
Ramakrishna and his devotees believe like all Vedantists that all beings are the Time less Soul in their path to unity with the Brahman. As a corollary our prayer to the departed should be that their journey progress to that Destiny of unification with the Brahman. All Glories to Thakur-Ma-Swamiji.Joyoti Sen <joyotisen wrote: Ramakrishna , "Brad Stephan" <bradstephanwrote:>> Namaste:> > Does Ramakrishna or His followers have any guidance on praying forthe souls> of the deceased?> > Thank you,> Brad>Namaste Brad, I have been a devotee and regular visitor to the Ramakrishna missionfor many years. I infer it from Kathopanishat and Garduda Purana. Antim Samskar is the last of the Samskaras that is given to the Self which resides in the body. Just as when the cement is freshly layed, it can be molded the way it is needed, so do the immediate family of a person get a chance to mould the Samskaras for a Soul. Parents during conception of a child till its birth and 1 year after it and the children/spouse of the deceased at the time of death. When the soul goes out of body, it takes 13 days for it to get rid of the illusion that " I am body and mind " . Out of the Pacnha Koshas that we are all made up of, Pranamaya Kosha and Anandamaya Kosha still continue to exist, whereas the Anandamaya, Manomaya and Vignanamay koshas disintegrate.During this period, if the immediate family members pray sincerely to Lord Shiva, the lord of Karma, it would really help the soul to go to the " other " world with less luggage (Kukarma). Hence during these 13 days, the prayer of the family has to be united and in the direction pleading Lord Shiva to excuse all the mistakes committed knowing or unknowingly and grant Moksha. In fact why prayer is needed? Initially Karma is done through the Body and then perhaps through mind (even after death after reaching to a higher plane). Normally with death, without body further progress to spirituality pauses for a while till the next birth. So others can pray, means can dedicate SatKarma to the departed Soul which may be helpful for his progress. " unity with Bramhan " needs little clarity. All soul together makes the Bramhan so where is the unity required? We have mind which is linked to the body properties. Once that is purified, consciousness comes, mind starts seeing 'We' rather than 'Me and You'. That is called getting Dissoleved with Bramhan. As Thakur said a toy of Salt when it goes to a Sea, no identity remais and gets dissolved. Namashkar S R Das
