Guest guest
Simone discussing the significance of Shiva on Life fm Radio Simone, at Life FM a Radio Station run in Harlesden North West London, wanted to find out what is the importance of Shiva-ratri for Hindus and what Lord Shiva stands for. We explained that Shiva literally means God combined with God's grace, so we get two for the price of one! On Shiva-ratri the devotees of Shiva discipline themselves by fasting for 24 hours and spend time chanting or singing devotional songs to Lord Shiva. Shiva is an endearing approach in spirituality for the Hindus because HE inspires the idea that all of us are essentially divine and that our essential nature is Shiva. We are not just the body and mind but the spirit that percolates through the body and mind. One of the images of Shiva depicts him as Natraj: Lord of the dance. What we see around us as hustling bustling humanity is Shiva taking on all these forms and playing with us! Seeing and serving God in mankind is the unique message we want to transmit on this auspicious day. jay
