RAMAYANA AT THE BRITISH LIBRARY

The British Library is displaying, for the first time the beautifully illustrated 17th century manuscripts of the Ramayana. The manuscripts were originally commissioned by Rana Jagat Singh of Udaipur. More details of the exhibition are on the weblinks provided.

Along with the display, the library is running free workshops for children and adults, providing free public tours for a better understanding of the Ramayana. Hinduism in its comprehensive nature as Sanatan Dharma, and its relevance to modern times will be explored

As the Ramayana spans all of Asia, the library has done a wonderful job of displaying the global nature of the Ramayana through the incorporation of the artefacts from South East Asia and with workshops and talks on the varied versions of the Ramayana, spanning Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism

All schools in London have been informed and arrangements by schools or individuals for the workshops can be made through the weblinks provided below.

The workshops require a minimum of 10. The workshops are designed for children, as well as young adults and can be a fun day out for the family as a whole, as there are many activities designed around the Ramayana and the values it stands for.
