Guest guest
Afternoon at Sutton Grammar Schools for Boys. This afternoon we had an interactive session with 100 boys from Sutton Grammar School who were allowed to fire pointed questions at faith members. I was the Hindu contributor on the panel. Dr Bari the Secretary General of Muslim Council of Britain was the Muslim contributor. We also had a Jewish Rabbi and a Christian Minister. At the start the headmaster asked the students, how many atheist & agnostics?. Majority of hands went up. This is the state of affairs when it comes to the modern youth. Vast numbers are not prepared to go along with the status-quo. The students asked many pointed questions like:- What do panel members think will be the fate of the other panel members when they die? (asking are they going to hell because they have different set of beliefs). There are so many beliefs about religion and God - surely they all can't be right? So who is right? How can an almighty, all-compassionate God allow so much suffering? How can we be sure about God and did we ever have a crisis of confidence? As you can see the questions were very pointed! The Hindu response came straight out of the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and generated warm applause. Hindu Academy
