Guest guest
Dear jay: How fun! Thanks for sharing the Sutton School experience. Can you share your, and the other panel members' responses to the first question? Did you touch on reincarnation? (How old were these children with their intelligent questions? I assume a similar group of children in the USA would not raise their hands to atheism/agnosticism, as most have some belief in the Allmighty. Happily, our country is trending to be more " spiritirual, " but " non-religious. " This means more acceptance of others' beliefs - thank Goodness for that!) Namaste, Brad -- “They live in wisdom who see themselves in all and all in them, who have renounced every worldly desire and sense craving tormenting the heart. Neither agitated by grief nor in pursuit of pleasure, they live free from lust and fear and anger. Established in meditation, they are truly wise. Fettered no more by selfish attachment, they are neither elated by good fortune nor depressed by calamity. Such are those who know Me.” Bhagavad Gita 2:55-
Guest guest
Dear Brad I am having the best time of my life. I just take a few sentences of Swami Vivekananda's teachings add a little modern spin; add a bit of humour and then sprinkle this on the modern youth and they just swoon. These teachings are magic-dust. They never fail : ) We had over 100 youngsters in the 15 to 16 age group. The questions were cutting and these youngsters could not be fobbed off with 'waffle' - they were severe on the panellists. The reason why I got away is because I fell back on three main aspects of Vivekananda's teachings: Spiritual Humanism, Religious Pluralism and the need of religions to take on the challenge of rationality and science. regards jay - Brad Stephan Ramakrishna List Thursday, July 16, 2009 4:16 PM
