Soon after Swami Vivekananda returned from the West, the

Arya Samaj leaders of Punjab invited him to Punjab and Swamiji addressed several

meetings organized by them in that province.

Also, they requested Swamiji to accept the leadership of the

Arya Samaj.

Swamiji politely declined and told them, “ No, I have

also got in my pocket a person. If I want, I can place him before society, and

I am sure India will accept him immediately. But I want to preach his

PRINCIPLES first and see how people accept them.”
