The pioneers of the Puja in Singapore started the event 7 years ago with 50 Paduka devotees. Over the period of 7 years, the event has become a national event with far wider and greater participation by Sai Devotees. This year's event - saw nearly 500 devotees across various races and religions. This single national event has indeed brought together all devotees from many countries, races and religion on the 1st May. Devotees from Jakarta - Indonesia With growing participation, the pioneers have streamlined a dedicated team of organizing committee to maintain the devotees participation details and to correspond with them for events & for other periodic intimations. The venues too have been changing based on the size of the participation.. Each year the event starts with introductory visits to all Sai centres to publicise. The Spiritual unit of Singapore also came out with a publication of a Paduka Puja procedures book a few years back. The book was submitted at the Divine Lotus Feet of Swami. Copies of this publication were also offered to Sai Padhuka Trust, Madurai last year. Many of the devotees have also been sourcing the Swami’s Sacred Padukas from this Trust besides from other sources. Advance preparations:- In the pretext of this annual event, many devotees become Swami’s able instruments to contribute immensely in the organisational aspects. Volunteer’s time & efforts are channelled to accomplish the many different tasks this national event demands - Selection of venue, invitations thru’ email, phone calls and SMS, Providing refreshments & lunch, Altar decoration, Detailing of procedures, Vedic chantings & explanations. A set of volunteers commenced their work a few days in advance to ensure all the puja requisites are packed in white boxes. 16 different items are individually numbered and packed in white boxes and provided to every paduka worshipper. Other background work involve seating arrangements in the hall for different groups, tables / chairs for senior citizens, time management for tea break, bhajan sessions. Considerable preparation work goes behind scheduling time for all the devotees to perform their final circumumbulation around the main sanctums of the Mandir. The event of this enormity would not have been possible without the generous support by donors and sponsors. This year’s specialities: - Meticulous follow up procedures brought about 300 Paduka devotees. With Swami’s grace all the 300+ devotees were seated comfortably in an airconditioned hall. Temple Management were very helpful too. After 3 years of persistent prayers, Swami finally granted HIS Divine sanction to Chettiar Uncle, to proceed to Singapore and conduct this year Padhuga Pooja Mahothsavam in this grand city. Chettiar Uncle, his wife and 2 very learned and renowned priests could come to Singapore to perform this puja with Swami’s blessing. The most significant feature of this year’s event is that Uncle Chettiar had very lovingly brought forth a complete new sequence of puja procedures that greatly involved the devotees in the process deriving much higher benefits. All the chantings by the priests were followed up with explanations in English and Tamil. This year’s event started with Ganapathy Homam followed by Special Puja to Lord Subrahmanya - the family deity of our Beloved Bhagwan. Special prayers were also performed to a few deities to invoke specific benefits for harmony amongst the family members. Uncle Chettiar brought with him to Singapore, The Sacred Sapthanadhi Padukas - symbolizing the merger of 7 rivers of India at swami’s feet. Swami also bestowed on the Singapore devotees, a very unique blessing of having the darshan of PanchaBhootha Padhukas from Indonesia. This PanchBhootha Padhuka - symbolizing the merger of 5 cosmic elements at Swami’s feet is significant because Bhagwan has blessed it by wearing them in His Lotus Feet for 45 minutes. The devotee from Indonesia was given this Paduka as an antidote for all the natural disasters in Indonesia. Under Swami’s directive, this devotee has been taking them all around Indonesia. Like last year, this year also, a few lucky devotees got their Sacred Padukas from Sai Paduka Trust, Madurai just on time to perform their May 1st puja. A special puja was performed on the 29th April during the handover of these Sacred padukas to 20 devotee families at Sis.Vidyalakshmi’s house. The devotees also had the fantastic experience of listening to Chettiar Uncle himself about the Golden Chariot. Chettiar Uncle’s father was the one who sought Swami’s consent to build a Golden Chariot in 1997. Uncle Chettiar described in great detail all the trials and tribulations that the family underwent during the building of the Golden Chariot and how miraculously the money came from sources far and wide to help in completion of the Golden Chariot. The Paduka devotees feasted their eyes not once, but twice on the video clip presentation of the Golden Chariot Darshan - Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshana Santhi Mahotsavam - on 17.11.2008 at Vidyagiri Stadium, Prasanthi Nilayam, thanks to Uncle Chettiar. Uncle Chettiar shared with the devotees an extraordinary event relating to this Golden Chariot that occurred in 1997. When Swami’s consent was first sought for the selected date/time of Monday the 22nd Sep 1997, 7.05am Swami, after giving His consent, directed Uncle Chettiar to consult the Shuka Naadi. This Shuka Naadi by the Sage Shuka is a collection of Prophecies written in Palm Scripture and are 5000 years old. The Naadi had exactly predicted & recorded the occurrence of this historic event as below. During the Sahasra Chandra Poorna Mahotsavam 2008, when Swami gave His divine consent to ride in the Golden Charior for the 2nd time, the team had to test-ride the Golden Chariot from Ashram to Stadium. There was a newly constructed concrete arch on the way which was 2 and ½ feet lower than the height of the Golden Chariot. This proved to be a major obstacle and again divine interference was sought and as usual the ever-loving Divine readily, miraculously removed the obstacle by elevating the height of the concrete arch up by more than 2 and ½ feet to allow the Golden Chariot to pass thru the arch. After the Bhajans and Aarthi , the devotees took turns to take a closer look at and offer pranaams to the 2 pairs of Sacred Padukas – Saptha Nadhis and Pancha Bhootas. The sacred Abhishekam water was offered as Prasadam to all the devotees. Packets of manifested vibhuthi were given as Prasadam to all devotees from a devotee’s residence in Bayshore, Singapore. Swami had manifested a few buckets of Vibhuti as Prasadam in this devotee's house just a day earlier only allowing time for volunteers to pack them into 100s of smaller packets for distribution. Organizers were put to yet another test of faith and surrender. After the devotees feasted their eyes/ears to the video clips/miracle stories, it was time for feasting. All thru’ the event, the Chettiar uncle and his family’s unbounded love and devotion to Swami was very evident. Uncle Chettiar – having accomplished his mission left for India, Kodaikanal immediately on the same evening after conquering all the hearts in Singapore. His firm focus on Swami and only Swami too him back to Kodai straight from here and needless to add, Swami spoke to him in the darshan lines on the 3rd May morning itself. Tremendous positive and happy vibrations were felt in the hall indicating Swami's omnipresence. The 2 priests continued to stay in Singapore till 7th May for conducting further prayers. The joy of the 20 new Paduka recipients need no special mention. Happy and Prosperity will abound in all the devotee’s homes. Professionals were deployed for photography of the entire event for the first time in the last 7 years. Planning for next year’s programme:- Organizing team’s enthusiastic spirit to improve the quality of serving the devotees thus serving the lord.
