Amaralingeswara Swamy temple, constructed similar to the Bhadrcahalam temple, has four entrances.The eastern entrance is now under 2 ft of water and the others under 1 ft of water. The main temple, standing 10 ft above the submerged eastern entrance, has not been affected. The Buddhist sites as well as the Saibaba temple in the town were also submerged. All road links to and from the town have been snapped with roads to Vijayawada, Guntur and Krosuru being breached at many places, leaving quite a few people stranded in the temple town.The district authorities, when contacted by Express, said that not many people were left in the temple town and said that rescue boats were on their way to the Amaravati village to rescue them also.
